WASH Manager Job, South Sudan


Reporting hierarchy to the Country Director of South Sudan and functionally to the Watsan and Hygiene Manager in Barcelona (Spain) at headquarters, the selected person would be in charge of contributing to analyse the humanitarian needs of the country and coordinate the Water, Sanitation and Health and Hygiene Promotion activities for Humanitarian Action in South Sudan.
Key Responsibilities
·         Participation in analysing the humanitarian needs along with the team. Performance of exploratory missions and formulation of proposals.
·         Revision of the IO water, sanitation and health and hygiene promotion strategies in the country.
·         Strengthening the IO water, sanitation and health and hygiene promotion technical capacities in the country either of the IO team of the existing projects or of the identified counterparts.
·         Participating in the elaboration and/or revision of the Contingency Plan. -Giving technical support in the Risk Management activities.
·         Writing monthly reports and other necessary reports on the development of the water, sanitation and health and hygiene promotion activities.
·         Briefings to new personnel in all technical aspects related to water, sanitation and health and hygiene promotion.
·         Implementing and respecting the logistics and financial controls and procedures.
·         Helping to calculate the budget of the project proposals in relation to the water, sanitation and health and hygiene promotion activities.
·         Supporting and co-ordinating with the remaining departments.
·         Coordinates with the other agencies present as well as with local and national authorities, the activities regarding water, sanitation and health and hygiene promotion.
·         Assists and represents Intermon Oxfam at the humanitarian coordination meetings of the countries water hygiene and sanitation.
·         Participation in preparing, planning and carrying out water, sanitation and health and hygiene promotion activities of the existing projects.
·         Supporting and supervising the development and planning of the activities with the PHE and PHP team in the field, giving technical recommendations and ensuring that they are implemented.
·         Assuring integration between PHE and PHP projects.
·         Assuring the quality of the water, sanitation and health and hygiene promotion projects. Supervising the quality or the purchased equipment for the implementation of the PHE and PHP projects.
Experience and Skills
·         University degree or equivalent engineering qualification; a specific qualification in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH) or Environmental Health will be valued.
·         A minimum experience of 2 years in WaSH humanitarian programmes. Experience in a fully integrated programme WaSH / Food Security will be valued
·         Knowledge and experience regarding water engineering (water collection and supply systems as well as analysis and treatment) and sanitation systems in humanitarian contexts.
·         Knowledge and experience regarding health and hygiene promotion and community participation approach in humanitarian contexts. -Proficiency in written and spoken English.
·         Computers: standard knowledge level and a very good knowledge of Excel. -Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
·         Ability to work with a team in an intense environment.
Working Conditions
Contract of employment of 1 year.
 Salary: According to the Intermón Oxfam's country salary scale + per diem
R&R: 5 days every 12 weeks, flight payed to Nairobi or Entebbe. The R&R can be reviewed while in mission.
 Social benefits: Medical, life and accident insurance and children benefit.
Holidays: 27 working days per year
Working place: Juba. Travels to the projects are necessary
