Zebra Trust (GZT) conserves the endangered Grevy’s zebra and its fragile
habitat in partnership with communities.
GZT is looking for experienced and qualified Kenyan citizens to fill two positions: a Field Director based in Nanyuki and Samburu and an Accountant based in Nairobi.

GZT is looking for experienced and qualified Kenyan citizens to fill two positions: a Field Director based in Nanyuki and Samburu and an Accountant based in Nairobi.
Field Director
Description: The Field
Director will manage and develop GZT’s diverse field programmes, including
community based monitoring of species and habitat, community outreach and
education, and applied species research.
Specific responsibilities include:

- Management
of a large and decentralised field team, including employee performance
evaluation
- Programme
Management (budget control, tracking activity schedules, reporting,
programme monitoring and evaluation)
- Grant
writing and reporting
- Asset
management, including vehicles and field stations
- Liaison
with communities, the Kenya Wildlife Service, local Administration and
other field partners
- Representation
of GZT at national and international meetings and events
Qualifications:
To be successful in the role, you must:

- be
passionate about wildlife conservation;
- have
a post-graduate degree;
- at
least 5 years management experience and a proven track record of managing
local field teams;
- be
a team player with strong inter-personal skills;
- be
fluent in spoken Maa, Kiswahili and English, and have excellent English
writing skills;
- be
highly self-motivated and capable of living and working in a remote environment
for extended periods
Accountant
Description: The Accountant will manage GZT’s accounting and administrative functions including:

- Input
of monthly financial data and ensure correctness of data in the accounting
system
- Preparation
of monthly accounts and financial reports for project grants – income and
expenditure, balance sheet, trial balance, cash flow statements
- Maintain
a database of donations and grants
- Monthly
payroll preparation and payment of statutory deductions
- Assist
in preparation of annual budgets and annual financial audits
- Preparation
of staff contracts and management of leave, sick and off-days
- General
office management
Qualifications:
To be successful in the role, you must:

- have
an accounting qualification of CPA 2 minimum and good experience of
QuickBooks; experience of managing project budgets;
- ability
to demonstrate honesty and handle confidential information;
- be
a team player with excellent communication skills, and fluency in both
written and spoken English;
- be
able to work with minimal supervision;
- demonstrate
initiative and have the capability to work in a demanding environment.
